Cancer is all around us. I’m sure everyone knows someone who has fought a battle with cancer. Being an individual who has survived cancer it bothers me that breast cancer gets so much attention while other cancers such as childhood cancers or colon cancer which are just as prevalent in the world get very little attention. Take note of the ribbon colors above for all the cancers other than breast cancer. I will be wearing my yellow ribbon tomorrow.
With so many different cancers surrounding us it is easy to get caught up in the information we hear about cancer causing substances in the world. In a world filled with chemicals and electronics and opinions coming at us from all different directions we can become afraid of things. Several studies have attempted to link all kinds of potential causes of cancers to certain items we use everyday. Many of these things have have been disproven entirely or shown little connection to cancer. Here are 6 of these items:
- Cell Phones
- Certain Chemicals
The best thing you can do to reduce your risk of cancer is to stay informed. Take care of your body and your mind. Eat healthy, rest and exercise. Understand the risk factors in your life and communicate with your Doctor regularly about your concerns.
